Time off & vacation¶
Employees request days off here. Managers and admins approve or deny. Approved time off shows in Shifts - and scheduling conflicts are prevented.
Overview¶
Under Time off you can:
- Create requests - vacation, sick leave, unpaid, other
- Track status - pending, approved, denied, cancelled
- Decide requests - approve or deny (managers/admins)
- Protect planning - approved days block new shifts
- Sidebar badge - count of open requests (managers/admins)
Who can do what?¶
Employee
- view and create own requests
- cancel own pending or approved requests
Manager
- view and decide requests in their department
- revoke approved requests (cancelled)
Administrator
- same as manager, organization-wide
Create a request¶
- Open Time off from the menu
- Click New request
- Pick a date range (from/to)
- Pick a type: Vacation, Sick leave, Unpaid, or Other
- Optional: add a reason
- Save
The request appears in the Pending tab.

- Pending - waiting for a decision
- Decided - approved or denied
- All - full list
Status overview:

- Approve or Deny

Cancel a request¶
Employees can cancel their own pending or approved requests:
- Open the request
- Click Cancel request
- Confirm
In Shifts¶
Approved time off:
- appears as all-day entries in the calendar
- blocks new shift assignments in that period
That way you do not schedule someone on a day off.
Tips¶
- Submit requests early so planning stays clean.
- Use decision notes for clear feedback.
- Review open requests before copying a week or finalizing a plan.
FAQ¶
Why do I not see the badge?¶
The badge only appears for managers and administrators.
I cannot see a request - why?¶
Employees only see their own requests. Managers only see requests in their department.
Multiple days at once?¶
Yes - pick start and end date in the request.
